Description
Smugglers' ports, or Black Ports, are unregistered trade depots and small shipyards catering to smugglers, pirates and mercenaries moving cargo that's been stolen or would otherwise be heavily taxed. They are also good locations for upgrading your ship with illegal modifications, or obtaining forged permits and documentation.
They are often located on worlds supporting small to medium colonies, located far away from the settled zones. While they can bring trouble, these ports are the life's blood for many struggling colonies, who profit from the influx of credits, goods, and by supplying the ports with necessities. The authorities are aware of many of the smugglers' ports, but generally only act against them if they get out of hand or get too large and defiant.
Porsimo's landing pad freebie and Moebius's Antares Bridge freebie, along with a ship from Davo's FVCS kit (in the background). The modular container freighter was designed by me in DOGA-L3 and textured in Carrara.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Excellent modelisation
A great mixture of freebies creating a great scene. I like the concept and I think that the smuggler's port has historical background in US history; I'd have to look it up to make sure (it's been quite a while since I read US history books for fun, but when I was young I loved them).
Great image! wonderful information!
Definitely think the idea of a smuggler's port, particularly for the smaller more struggling colonies is a super concept that would be good for all sorts of stories and renders.
