Description
Only thing I have that belonged to my great grandfather. It hung in my parents house from before time itself :-)
The dog's head made a good object for me to practice painting with light a month ago. It always reminds me of my father telling me stories about his favorite grandfather.
Thanks for stopping by and for all your ongoing wonderful comments and favs.

The lighting is superb Bill. Beautifully photographed!
You did paint it with light, and very beautifully. Now you've taken this bit of history and sent it around the globe. And it will stay in some of our collections till time passes away. Neat trick you pulled off there.
Superbly done, both by you and the maker!
Good photo work on the commemorative.
Great work Bill. Lighting and details are fantastic.
Super looking result - nice bit of memorabilia, plenty of talent went into this.
Very nice work Bill! I love the warm lighting and exposure. Nice way to remember your great grandfather.....
A wonderful piece and excellent render.
Beautiful light and angle in this PWL composition, Bill, and a keepsake that I know you are very proud of! Well done. :)
The lighting is fantastik!!!!! Tom
A fine memory! Can't say I have anything from my Great Grandfather. I was on the verge of trying something in this vein. (Patience!) The lighting in wonderful, Bill! Warm and cosy! Makes you feel like curling up...... Good one, Rob.
Lovely and what a great way to be able to look back at this image as time goes by!
Beautiful light--it's warm and so lovely!!
This is great!
Nice one Bill
marvelous!
Superlative shimmering lighting effects attained in this concept, Bill! Kind of looks like it was made in a Jello mold, a strawberry flavor most likely. I didn't know you were into PWL. I'm still involved with scanning and bringing my old film prints up to par for presentation. Have barely scratched the surface in that area.
Bill, you really gave this a warm inner glow with your lighting. Wonderful capture.
Thats A W E S O M E
beautiful carving. I always have respect for those talented to carve like this. excellent play on light
Excellent subject for pwl, and you did a great job! What a wonderful mood!
yes, a beautiful & evocative piece of light & dark & painting with light. I can't see it with the eye of a photographer—which is why it's so great to read the comments—but just in straight visual terms, it's beautifully captured: You got a lot of rich earthen hues, with touches of yellow & gold. And your dark background makes it emerge out of darkness with real warmth. I agree, too, that it's a beautiful carving; and I can see how it would evoke memories of stories from your father. Like tara says, what a wonderful mood...
wonderful ... the light color... great shot...
It's a beautiful carving. I really like the lighting.
