Description
Cropped this photo several ways. A tight crop made this circa 1865 "German, bank barn" the star. But after much indecision I went with this crop that put the barn in the context of an absolutely gorgeous winter afternoon that saw a high of 70 degress F. Winter days don't get more comfortable than this, here in Kansas.
The last real use of this barn was for horses stabled here as a remount point.
May follow this up with a collage that shows the other sides of this solid, old barn and the handsome old farm house nearby.
Hope you like this special posting for my 200th upload here on Rendo.
Thanks for all your wonderful support. Your comments keep me going.
Bill:)
P.S. I left the file large for good zooming.
P.S.S. This goes with the wind mill I posted yesterday as Before Electrification

What a lovely capture here of this rural scene that just seems to speak of the charm of Kansas. A very nice image, and many congrats on post #200! How your gallery has evolved in that time, can't wait for the next 200! :)
This is great!
Does look like a painting! Love those long afternoon shadows.
love it, Bill! a great feel of expanse! congrats on the 1st 200th from Mona and me.
nice sweep to this one. You know, as I look through your gallery, you've really caught the music of the midwest. The fact that you've given as much ground as you have allows the shadows and grass-lines to act as energy-lines sweeping to the barn. And the barn, all red, commands the shot. No one who hasn't been in the midwest can assess the power of these old dignified structures, surrounded by so much gently rolling space; or how the sky seems so very big & commanding. Very nice shot, very thoughtful choices. A fav for it and for the landscape you so gently captured... PS! Happy 200th! I didn't notice before! You have a wonderful gallery!
Wonderful shot my friend. I love the shadow. What is that dot on the middle of the sky....plane?
