Description
The Martians have started firing at the Earth. In Surrey it's midnight, and the green flash is visible through the telescope of one Mr Ogilvie.
"The chances of anything manlike on Mars are a million to one, he said..."
Again this is a test render.
The tripods have been reduced in size and the barrel, as suggested, has been textured.
As before everything built my yours truly in TS and imported into Bryce.
Thanks for looking ^_^
Iain
(PS - anyone able to make a Martian creature?)

They're on their way.
The Martians are coming, the Martians are coming! Outstanding render :)
oh great, now I have that 80s rock musical stuck in my head........ Neato image! Don't think there is quite enough of the violence of the launch though. The green blast should probably be a lot larger and possibly illuminate the surrounding countryside. As for the Martians themselves, here's a painting I uploaded here 27November5, "War of the Worlds: Inside the Martian Cylinder." http://excalibur.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1100273
Great reference to this classic story and terrific firing effect! I went to see the live musical last year (or was it the year before?) - wonderful entertainment!
nice rendition of a classic story
When I get around to the final renders from the novel there will be more 'violence' and detail. Not 100% sure what to do yet - a kind of CG comic, or a series of scenes based on events in the book... Hmm... answers on a postcard to.... ^_^ Anybody know where I can get Edwardian clothes for M3 and V3? I want to set my images around 1900-1910 - Wells only says it takes place in the first years of the 20th Century. Gives me a chance to bring in some early cars and trolley bus-type things ^^
I have a question. What is the magnitude of the shock wave generated every time that cannon is fired? One would want make sure all personnel and equipment are either underground in a subterranean bunker complex, or several miles away behind a supremely thick blast wall for good measure.
Wow, great render, hoped you fire it ;)
Very good sci-fi scene.
Excellent image again matey
Wow, I wouldn't have thought you could improve on the previous one, but this certainly does!
A classic space cannon inspired from the movie "Things to come"! :) Great render!
