Description

We found this well preserved Farmall M tractor on the grounds of the famous "goat lady", Ada Austin. She owns and runs an angora goat farm in Harmony, MN. After our cave tour we had to find this well known farm. When you stop by to see her you can pet the baby goats and buy mohair goods in the gift shop, which we did. The entire place is painted purple and that includes this tractor! My husband restores antique tractors (a John Deere H and a RED Farmall H) so when we saw this tractor we actually were shocked and somewhat saddened... I HAD to take a photo of it. (I think Ada may be part of the red hat society!) For the record, she was a wonderful and welcoming hostess and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We even forgave her for painting her tractor purple. lol I appreciate the views, comments and a special thanks to those who made my past images a favorite! Have a great weekend. Nice picture like all of your pictures are. I have been there a couple of years ago, but did not see the tractor. Are you just passing thru or do you live in the area?

it's an innocent-looking photo, but closer-looks show all your photographic sight: The big wheel in front is paralleled by the wheel-shapred shed in the background (and another wheel to the right of that); the right-most tree harmonizes with the poles holding up the canopy; the line of the tractor-base is taken up seamlessly by the purple fence in the background; the tractor seat seems to slide right off the roof of the shed, etc. etc. Maybe all intuitive choices, but it's what you do alot, and it makes a very musical shot. As for the tractor, I personally love the look of old decayed tractors as much as the shiny restored ones, and this one somehow has neither. I guess they just wanted to make it purple...A really fine shot, and the ground and amber leaves are perfect counterpoint to that big white awning; and I love that blue shading all over it. Really fine work Jodie...

My word, that's one unique tractor! Is that a fence back there painted the same color?! Smiling at Piet's comment, I bet the owner really has fun watching the reactions he gets. Neat shot!
