Description
This old truck had just arrived from the countryside and the guy in the background is setting up pots that will hold flowers for a sidewalk vendor in Plaza Cagancha, Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo, Uruguay. Montevideo is the biggest city in Uruguay by far and there isn't another city in the country with a population greater than 100,000.
I have seen many older vehicles in Argentina and Uruguay, but nothing as old and dilapidated as this truck, but it still ran.
This picture was taken on 1 December 2006.

Outra impressionante captura, caminhões como este são comuns no Brasil ainda, circulando pelas estradas, aplausos (5)
EXCELLENT SIG! :)
Excellent street scape photo. I just had to do a little year identification on this venerable, old Chevrolet truck. Looks like this grill was used on most models between 1947 and 1953. So, this 55 to 60 year old truck is still doing the job. There was no sophistication on these trucks...pretty easy to use baling wire and a few sperk plugs and keep it going. Bill
It does look a little beaten up and the licence plate is hanging off but it looks to have some decent tyres on the front Sig. Better than some of the trucks over here, I would say. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!
Great to see that not everyone scraps stuff that still works.
superb b+w. wonderful image!
Excellent capture my friend.
wonderful capture Sig, the black and white works well on this one.
Wonderful shot!!
Excellnt photo! :)
Cool shot!
For a minute I thought you'd been to Sacramento. This looks like the corner I pass everyday at the Capitol. Great shot.
Great capture - Thanks to BMAC62 for iding the truck it looked very familiar.
outstanding urbanscape. years ago when I frequented Monterrey,Mexico I seen an old 60's Ford that had the fenders wired on and the whole body was rusted out with not one door that would close. I must have seen 3-5 times over the course of 6 years are more.it smoked like crazy also.
Fantastic work.
very good stereet shot here.
I was about to ask you if that truck was actually running... it looks deplorable! Excellent shot, Sig!
@Kaarijer. Yes, it was delivering flowers and when it left it wasn't burning any oil either.
Excellent image in black and white. Everything on the inside, then-- the flowers, and the well-kept engine. Haha.
excellent capture and beautiful B&w color..outstanding
Cool shot! Did you get any shots of the flowers after he set them up?
