Description
The previous evening it had snowed while we were celebrating. A Dutch friend of my nephews, a Nato soldier stationed at Oberammergau, had returned the previous evening from Holland with some commercial-sized fireworks. At midnight, with still some snow flurries, the fireworks were launched. I have never seen fireworks the size of this stuff. Over night it cleared up and the temperature dropped.
This morning the temperature was -4F (-20C) and in the foreground can be seen some of the lauchsites of the previous night.
This picture was taken on January 1, 2008 from in front of my bedroom window of my cousin Gundi's house in Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany.
