Description
Captured 11/17/08, very early in the morning, adjacent to a busy thoroughfare, about 1.8 miles/3.1 kilometers from my humble abode.
Hate to tear you away from my daily regimen of classic autos, but since this is another 100th milestone, I'm taking a brief break from the gorgeous cars to post this bloom. It's been a habit of mine to feature a flower, usally a rose, whenever I reach the next 100th posting. But just for a change, I thought I'd put up this particular hibiscus, held in abeyance for this special occasion, because of its striking lighting contrasts and textures. As you can see, it was past its prime, or at least wilting around the edges, possibly due to absorbing the noxious fumes and raucous noise emitted by the busy day and night traffic.
And guess what...virtually no postwork performed! I think Marilyn should like this one.
Thankx for the visit, and have a sensationally serene Sunday.

WONDERFUL
happy you made it to 900 and on a lovely note too
Wow, 900 posts... Thats Awesome! This is gorgeous!! I love hibiscus flowers. They make me think of my Morfar(grandpa) who died about 2 years ago. He always had them growing outside his bedroom. Except he had red ones. Wonderful Photos!!
Congratulations Harry! You were right to save this for a special occasion, it's stunning; the light is absolutely exquisite! Well done!
Congrats on the 900th. The Hibiscus is always a welcome flower. Most excellent. Aloha
I did not even relized you have another 100 in your bag. Congrat to the next milestone Harry and a best way to "celebrate" it is with a wonderful flower like yours. Amazing yellow and no postwork!!...I would give you an extra 5 point for just that.
It's a beautiful picture!
"Hi, remember me??!!" :D it's GREAT to see a flower from you again; I missed them. :) Those cars are pretty sharp, but I'm more of a flower person. This is gorgeous! I used to have a really nice Hibiscus; a friend gave it to me; it was Red. She said it never bloomed but once for her, in the 10 years she had it. So, it was just this tree-like thing, sitting there in her living room. finally one day, she asked me if I wanted it. gulp I took it, read up on how to care for it and my golly, I got that sucker to bloom almost constantly throughout the year! It was so pretty. All I did was water it with a nice mixture of miracle grow mixed in. and wah lah! :)
Congratulations on number 900 Harry. Glad you saved this hibiscus for this special posting. The color and the lighting are perfect. keep up the good work. Bill
