Grassington Village, North Yorkshire UK
I would say that this picture doesn't do the crowds justice! It was so packed everywhere making it difficult to move never mind gatting a photo. I found that I had impeccable amounts of patience with long long waits to a good shot.

can you see Santa?
Is that steam I see rising from the crowds? Like a herd of wildebeest? Super shot, Alan, I feel as if I'm there!
Yes and I can see the thwaites sign above his head and the Spar arrow/tree. Looking at this I'm glad I didn't go, I would have had one hell of a time trying to get through this lot. Excellent capture Alan, showing what a popular event this is, somehow it belies the monetary climate and the recession that we are supposed to be suffering at the moment. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
Yes I did spot Santa in his grotto1 I do often wonder who actually enjoys these Christmas fairs...was there a saboteur starting a fire!!! Candid capture and the crowds don't look too enthused. Great shot of a typical English event.
Excellent work :)
What a wonderful capture with the Christmas market and I just love the misty tree in the background. Looks fantastic.
excelent capture the pain of the lady in red the extreme tall lady in black with the sunglasses man there so much to see here
Excellent capture, well done...
The Smoke is from one of these stalls selling hot BBQ food, all that smoke reminds me of the one and only occassion I was left in charge of a BBQ lol.
Great crowd shot! You found a most excellent perch. Wonderful stuff!
Looks like you've even captured representatives of the Salvation Army in the middle of the crowd. "The books" say we should avoid including crowds into our photos but this is an exception to the rule...the crowd is the attraction. Well done. Bill
great work mate, I love crowd scenes, and as Bill says the rulebook says no, but hey what the heck, in this day and age of photoshop and digital manip, who needs rules anymore :)...Great job here Alan, and yes I see Santa, but I have been a naughty boy this year, so he won't want to talk to me, and will probably leave me a lump of coal :)
Very Nice work Alan!!!!
Looks very festive Alan... I do however get closterfobic very easily now that I am aging at a rapid rate... I am trying to avoid crowds like this at all cost!!!! LOL... Neat image Alan!!! :)
Yep, I saw Santa! Great shot!
SPLENDID, Thats have a wonderful architecture like Old Montreal ;-)
The first thing I spotted were the fabulous chimineys! LOL All that work for the crowd and I found the chimineys fascinating. :-) But then I turned to the crowd and I do like that lady in the black bonnet and shawl. Everyone seems to be having a lovely time in spite of what looks like chilly weather.
Very funny to see all their expressions! Yes..I saw Santa. Happy image :)
Excellent shot!
Many caracters in a crowd. great capture and I do see santa too.
It is a busy festival indeed! Not an easy time for Santa as I can see. But I like the mood and light in your capture.
The atmosphere looks fabulous there - love the tree too. As a Yorkshireman, myself, now with a Victorian Teashop, I felt pretty much at home looking at this.
La foule des "grands jours" !
