An interesting idea--but not enough, or perhaps too much. One is not quite sure even the mainland Chinese, of whatever age or status or ideological bent or aspiration in that loose cultural and geographical grouping, have any idea what happened at Tiananmen. Nor do media images tell one much. A man raises his arm and a column of tanks stops in its tracks. That is the phenomenon. Was he undercover and recognized? Was it a postural analogue of Der Hauptmann von Köpenick? Is it shared superstition or a sensitivity to a common electromagnetic field? "Occult" means no more than "hidden", which covers a multitude of possibilities, including classical, relativistic, and quantum theory. The model is available and it is used. But it is not an insect or sufficiently insectlike to get to the root. Neither Dada nor surreal is child's play in the sense of being easy. Child's play is supremely difficult, even for children.
