I met Armstrong before I met Whitney, offically, I had met Armstrong twice before. Then I met Ferguson. An iron ball of 8 pounds is about the size of your fist when you are about 5 foot six, a bit bigger. A ball of sixteen pounds trys to roll off your open palm as you heft it to your shoulder to put it. So I hemmed and hawed about this English six pounder. Looking at the bore and his two hands balled I assess this about right to the comment "eight feet long". That I assume does not include the carriage. This weapon though not spiked is an antique and in the writings about Williamsburg's magazine is described as "useless." So no check for violence today. Try not to imagine it spewing forth shot and smoke. We are looking at Michael's headgear to see if it is "guncrew." NAVY is a further examination. Merchant or Mercantile may be too vague.

A bore with a mission! Micheal's hands are the right size for the ball.
