Description
There are quieter places than this: Lazarska Street at two in the morning.
At two in the morning, the metro is closed, buses no longer run. Only the night trams weave their ways through the city. You know the night trams by their numbers; their designations range only through the 50s, and no matter which tram you take, you'll find yourself on Lazarska at some point during it's nocturnal journey. It may take forever to get here, or no time at all...it depends on which of the 50s you take and in which direction it was originally heading.
Now, however, you have no need for nocturnal transport. You are close enough to home to walk, though perhaps you'll find your way to beer and conversation with friends in the most familiar of 600-year-old cellars. Now, your mood is to walk. As simply as that. And as you spot 4 trams waiting, you realize just how glad you are that tonight's journey is a short one, devoid of the scowls and belches of crass intoxication...there will be other nights, when you hear and see such things. But not tonight.
