Description
I have captured this little weaver in Pilansberg Game Reserve when I went with Adam & Ina for a day trip. He is anxiously weaving and building a nest and when he is finished, he will get a prospective Mrs Weaver to come and inspect his work. If she is happy with the new home, she will move in and they will live happily ever after... If she is not satisfied, she will rip the nest to pieces and he will have to start again from scratch!!! (This will teach you men a lesson... *smile*)
I have them in the garden too and can watch their tireless work for hours. They do rip my palms to shreds as it seems to be perfect building material. Cute little suckers!!!
Thank you for popping in and for your valued comments on this image as well as my previous uploads. Thank you also to those who chose my previous images as favourites.

I am jealous of your posibilities to watch this beautyies in your garden, we've only seagulls, peacocks, crows, magpies and ducks. wonderful registration of nature! RS
Wonderful Work!!!
I envy your getting to see them in person, I can see how it would be fascinating. Excellent capture : )
Beautiful! Very well done!!!
A beautiful capture and such a cute nest, a bit disheartening for the male to have it torn up I would think.
Stunning capture, I am sure your palms will survive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Home is where the heart is. Yes, they are cute and most adept at their work. The nest has the shape of a Hershey Candy Kiss. Terrific macro, Carin!
great capture...

Excellent capture Carin.Wonder why they prefer the palm Tree Leaves?
Is not easy to build a house. Fantastic capture :)
Now thats a really nice capture Carin
I once saw one of these in action on a wild life programme, done with timed exposures and then animated. A very industrial litte bird, I winced as he kept flying in and out of the leathal spikes on that tree. I was expecting him to get skewered at any momment. Excellent capture Carin, I envy you being able to watch these birds on a regular basis. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
Wonderful capture! :)
Super shot! I'm envious, Karin, I'd love to watch this going on. We do have a lot of different species in the garden, but they mostly build concealed nests, as the dangers here are different fromwhere you are!
What a mixed bag of pleasure and hate when they do that to a garden. I planted some reeds about 6 x 8 feet and they stopped ripping apart the other plants. Well captured and just something about us men: we never learn, lol.
Wonderful capture, Excellent well done..
Superb close-up and amazing nest. You were lucky to be standing close to this construction work!
Lovely shot! Great find!
