Description
This view is from Zabriskie Point off highway 190 on the Eastern side of Death Valley. In the foreground is the Amargosa Range and in the distance to the west are the Panamint Mountains. Nestled between these two ranges lies Death Valley.
This picture was taken on 22 September 2008.

I went down on a dirt road obscured by the hills in the foreground and it was the most silent place until a jet passed over.outstanding capture Sig

A good place to meet movie stars.
It looks like another planet Sig, I wouldn't have thought it possible to look so barren on our own world. Not a blade of grass nor any sort of greenery any where. I know there are other parts of the world just as equally hostile but never having visited one of these places it is hard to imagine. Behind you, there will maybe be a road a sign of civilisation, something to cling to, to prove you have not been transported elsewhere. This vista is not spectacular, but it is very very impressive. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

I recall bicycling through that area in August of 1986 ... temp was about 44 C. Excellent photo!
Road through Death Valley in the middle of August on a motorcycle a couple of years ago...a very interesting and scenic place..
