Description
Previously wooden castles were on the hill and were destroyed one after the other. A new stone castle in a quatrefoil shape was built in 1270 on the orders of Henry III. These spiral steps are part of the only remnants of that castle, a tower called Cliffords tower for a man who died there.
My feet do not do well on these stone stairs. The view is great from the top.

Belle photo et superbe point de vue !!
Great shot, I like how you caught the light coming down. : )
Wonderful light & textures
Lovely shot, really beautiful and mysterious, the softly worn stone of warm hue beckons us to follow ... what adventures lie without? ...
Wow, awesome shot, unusual and captivating!
For one big reason I shall not share (surprise) this shot becomes very personal to me. How many feet have tread these stones? How many have sat on them in the shadows ... waiting, watching? I love the feel of the stone, the sight of the wear. It is a really special capture. What a thrill to climb them, to stand and contemplate them.
The wear on those stones is amazing. Think about how many feet had to climb up and down that staircase in order to wear away rock.
loved seeing these old world bricks/ textures!!!!

Shaped and weathered to "perfection" as far as texture and color goes.

This is a really excellent shot and I LOVE stones and bricks and old stone walls.
I have been up those steps many times both as an adult and as a child and I always get the feeling that I am leaning to one side as I walk. Lovely shot!
