Description

Montgomery Pass (7,132-ft.) along highway 6 in Nevada between Benton, CA and Coaldale Junction, NV west of Tonopah. As you can see by these uploads, I did a lot of driving - a little over 2,850 miles in eight days. Basically just get out of the house and occassionally blow the dust out. Once in a while I stopped and took a picture. This picture was taken on 22 September 2008. Thank you for viewing and commenting on these uploads, Sig..... P.S. Driving around in the American Southwest, and basically having seen most of it before, ones senses tend to get a little dull. There were so many spots that were worth photographing I didn't bother to stop. But occassionally something caught my eye that made me stop and take a picture.

I like these really black mountains with snow caps. Montgomery Pass is one I don't think I know. Tonopah and Rhyolite, I recognize. Then I think this it Telescope Peak.

I crossed a pass(hwy 266) farther south along the border and my brakes on a 98 Pontiac overheated on me several times, but of course I was driving well above the speed limit.astonishing view and capture Sig

I'm glad you stopped for this one Sig, I like the rock formations on the right, looks like an area I would like to explore. You certainly put some miles in, I once set of to Scotland and did 1,360 mile in a 36 hour round trip. A long story so I won't go into great detail,, we got to Edinburgh and it was the tattoo so nowhere to stay, got to Perth and it was the Highland Games, nowhere to stay, got to Inverness and there was several conferences on, so nowhere to stay. I then came home. Thats what comes of not planning I guess. Excellent capture here and thanks for making the trip, it's the only way I will get to see some of America. Bravo!!!!!
