Description
Bottom of the Ninth
So here it is
Bottom of the ninth
Bases loaded
Two outs
Two strikes
On the batter
Home team
Behind
Four to three
Pitcher looks around
Batter takes his spot
Pitcher checks the runners
Batter digs in the dirt
The crowd's on its feet
Roaring
The coaches are in place
Ready to send the guys home
And score the winning runs
And this is it
Catcher gives the sign
Pitcher says no
Catcher tries another
Pitcher says GO
Winds up
Fastball
Right down
The middle
Batter swings
Connects
The crowd goes wild
The ball soars
Heading for
Center field
Going going................
To be continued............

You can't really pet a fast ball.
Great style, like a breath of fresh air..well done
Wow! What an exciting bit of writing! I don't even like baseball, and you still got me going. Since I already voted, all I can do is sit on the edge of my seat and wait to see what happens.
Like wise with me Marilyn same as Tara that is, best of luck with it, the last time I looked you were out in front with 27% of the vote, nailbiting stuff is this. Both the baseball(which I don't like) and the GOM voting. Guess I will have to tune in tomorrow see how the batter did, if he got a home run. Tara and I seem to have quite a bit in common, don't you think? Excellent work, but you're a tease making us wait, you would make a good commentator, isn't there a radio station wanting one? #;0) Bravo!!!!!
Lol Very nice, My friend I hope you knock it out of the park :)
lol, which team am i? ;) best of luck, marilyn!
And the crowd goes wild !! Wishing you ALL good luck ... we sure have some talented writers here.
wonderful work warm hug, Linda
Best of luck to both of you! I like your "cliff-hanger" poem. You're both terrific artists, I wish you both well! And re. baseball: I'm from Chicago, and assuming the Cubs don't lose again, they just may go all the way, so you may have to revise your poem for us...
you got me hanging on your words aswell and i`m not a baseball lover either :o)..excellent mick
Nelly Kelly loved baseball games, Knew the players, knew all their names, You could see her there ev'ry day, Shout "Hurray" when they'd play. Her boy friend by the name of Joe Said, "To Coney Isle, dear, let's go," Then Nelly started to fret and pout, And to him I heard her shout: "Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks, I don't care if I never get back, Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game." Good luck in your race for AOM, Marilyn!
real cool story
Loved the poem...but I'm late in commenting.....hope you win.....Good luck!
Trying to catch up, here on commenting as I was not receiving any ebots after noon on Wednesday. Seems as tho RR was sending out their newsletter and it backed everything else up behind it. Still haven't received all of the comment ebots. Great writing and I'm glad you were in the running for AOM.
