Description

First I want to thank Richard for the use of his picture of the blade of one of these windmills that inspired me to stop and take pictures of them. This was the best shot I got and still was a little blurry :( I wanted to show just how big these really are. The shot was with my 3.1 Kodak that I carry around for work. I wished I had my SLR to get a closer and clearer shot,But keep in mind they were about 2 miles or better from were I was standing These massive windmills are in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon/Washington producing electric. Some people really hate that they are taking a beautiful place and making it look bad.To me they are cool because of the fact we need alternative methods for power .Not to mention that I am in awe that it does not take a lot of wind to turn the massive blades,But in the Gorge these can really get moving since it is one of the best places around that people come sail boarding and can hit almost record speed because of how powerful the wind gets here ;) Thanks for viewing and comments are always welcome This is not in the set I listed but wanted to direct you to his store :)

outstanding comparison.I have seen in California, but seeing 100's in West Texas from a jet puts a new realization on them

Good job Bobby! I really like the windmills! I have pics of them all across the US from my trip back here. Frankly I would much rather see these than have the nuclear plants! Thanks for the story about the raven, that was pretty cool! I know they are smart but who would have thought that about them?:-)

I first saw these in Devon some time ago and more recently on the Wirral where I live, but never realised they were that big. I wonder just how much energy they will actually create. The general concencus of opinion, appears to me that the energy they create is a drop in the ocean over in UK compared to how many of these generators would make a sizeable contribution to our national grid. Nevertheless, a splendid capture Bobby! Steve :o)
