Description
This is a Magic lily, also known as Hardy Amaryllis, Naked Ladies, Resurrection Lily, or Surprise Lily. They are a bulbous species in the amaryllis family that are native to China and Japan.
These grow in one of my many flower beds and I enjoy back lighting, anyhow. So here it is.
I wonder how many hits this image would get if I'd chosen the 2nd nickname, Naked Ladies?

This is so lovely I'm stuck for adequate words to describe it, Jodie. Oh well, elegant mauve colors and neato stamens dominate this elegant macro! Also, you would get a zillion hits if you titled this "Naked Ladies." Incidentally, my August 19 posting of "Magical Chevy Art," with the naked ladies painted on the trunk lid, received 151 viewings, but only 11 comments.

( lol - maybe you should have put up a blank thumb that said naked lady ... hehe didn't know it was called that- only the resurrection one, learn something new every day!)

(I'm commenting early, this is a first!) It's a simple shot, the flower's leaning out to 'greet' us, the stamens point up as if they were reaching out, and there's a beautiful amber light in the center. Simple but very eloquent. And on the stem—right behind the flower?—you caught a great burst of sunlight on it like it had a lamp inside...the light even outlines the petals, like they were backlit. (Is that the backlighting you were talking about?) A nice bed of dark-greens behind...It's a really articulate shot, and it's always so nice when you come back to your gallery. A beautiful capture.

I have many naked ladies in my yard. They are one of the "old fashioned" flowers that my grandmother had in her garden. This is a gorgeous naked lady with an especially compelling color. You also put the stamin and pestels in the main focus area. What a stunning shot!

I have one pic of my Naked Ladies... They didn't do too well this summer for some reason Love the colors of that stamen And the sunlight that is shining down upon it and within it Makes for a enchanting Naked Ladie I knew what it was the minute I saw the name...LOL Excellent capture here sweetie And def a fav with me And er yes LOL I do have a huge favorite images that I have listed but if I like it then hey I am gonna list it to my favs..Can't ever have enough images esp me LOL Love n hugs Susan~

LOL at your notes... it would probably soar to the top of the charts, lol. Anyway, beautiful capture, Jodie. The lighting is wonderful. I happen to like backlighting, too. ( When it's done well, as this one is. ) I especially love the two petals at 3 and 4 o'clock. Great job! You must have one gorgeous garden. -M :^)
