Description
This image has been created partly as a means to improving my texturing skills in Photoshop but mainly as a bit of fun. It has been produced by following a tutorial by Teodoru Badiu on 3dtotal.com although he used a dove where I have used a Blue Tit.
I know it's something a bit different for me but I'm keen to experiment with new areas of graphic art in order to satisfy my ever curious mind and my uncontrollable urge to learn new skills.
So to the story ... a happy little Blue Tit flies innocently towards its birdbox when at the last moment out pops an evil skeleton dragon to feast itself on our little feathered friend. Apologies to any bird lovers but I promise that our friend escaped unharmed, albeit with a few ruffled feathers.
Enjoy ... Tony.

marvelous texturing work on this beauty! The bird is wonderfully done as well, I can see the frantic work of it's wings as it tries to stop and go back away from the attacking monster!!
Very creative 2D work!
Great image and technique! Love the snapping bird house appealing to my humor while happy to hear the bird escaped. Your gallery is excellent. If you give Vue lessons (written tutorials), I'm your student! Fantastic!
beautiful image!!
excellent work, Tony warm hug, Linda
Excellent work ,very creative!
Great work. Very good colour scheme. 5+
Nice idea and fantastic work!!!
Your skill is improving at a phenomenal rate. Excellent concept, whilst very amusing also. I like this a lot! Steve :o)
This appeals to me Tony. Not sure I would actually want one in my garden but I think 'The Count' may have a few similar contraptions (maybe with human bones?) knocking about the Castle Wards. I like the thiught processes that you have obviously gone through in delivering this one! Excellent work and style. (I'm sorry to be late in catching up!) Dave
Very cool idea!
Great work!
Whoa, this is really cool Tone, and I am so glad the little bird got away. I love the little fliers! Wonderful texturing too! Lea
great tutorial and excellent granulation here ... your drive to learn new techniques and skills is paying off!!! Great image!!!
Super job!
That poor, itty birdie! tsk tsk!...grin Now Tony, be kind to our little feathered friends....next time, you could have the bird attacking the skeleton, maybe....hehehehe! Seriously, the texturing in this is extremely well done, though the image itself is a bit on the, er, strange side! wry grin Such an imagination you have! Really good work on the texture, though!
~Mysteriously Magical~ So Creative... FABULOUS!!!
Great idea..Perfect!
lol, interesting. Great work.
Splendid render!! XCellent my friend!!!
Excellent surreal composition, Tony!!!
The story is very well portrayed, but equally impressive is the actual painting itself. Your background mirrors the woody nature of the box, and has a life, grain & texture all its own. (And it makes the work more intimate because it's enclosed by this rich 'wall' behind it.) The bird's well captured in motion, but it also has a soft painterly feel to it which makes it feel both soft and reflective (hard to accomplish with an animal in peril). The dragon is rendered as an intimate object against a background, it is menacing but has a quiet beauty, almost like an artifact; and I might say your artistry sweeps the story into its arms, and the work stands as visual complexity & beauty all by itself. I picked this image at random just to jump into your gallery, and I like what I see very much.
I think I'm gonna have to step up to the plate soon and turn out a few surreal pieces.... I have seen quite a few Vue Artists turning out lovely surreal work and I guess I have been so busy with the web sites I feel I am getting left behind here... Once again: Marvellous Work Tony! Bravo!
Thats way cool - like the colourtone - and what an excellent idea
