Description
To the west of the Lough Mask, beyond the isthmus, extends Joyce's Country,a mountainous and hilly region traversed by green valleys and lonely roads which takes its name from a Welsh family who settled here in the 13th Centuary. This is not unknown to my own family who settled from Ireland to a part of Cornwall that must have also reminded them of home.
It is an area of great scenic beauty with rivers, mountains and valleys lying between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, adjoining Connemara and Iar Chonnaught.
The Joyce Country Mountain and Lake District incorporates the communities of Maam, Corr na Mona, Clonbur, Cloghbrack, Finney, Tourmakeady, Cong, Cross and The Neale.

What beautiful countryside!
Again, this is a part of Ireland I've never been to (except Maam Cross), though I was living next to it. (If you have a good map of Ireland, I was living in a small village off Galway, called Menlo, by the lake Corrib, a few yards from the lake, in a thatched cottage, surrounded by bulls!)...Your wonderful photo rings a bell and this, a thousand times, as I was driving through Connemara...You've captured this unbelievable soft light of the Emerald Isle so beautifully.Excellent work, Danny!
Beautifully composed indeed, reminds me of the hills of Pennsylvania
Ohhh to be there ! sigh ....lovely !
