Description
here I am park very close to where the Mother gator is. In the lower image shows the shadow of my truck to show you how close the gator is ;who is protection her eggs so she will charge. She is just left of the big bush in the weeds. it be hard to see her.
To my shock this car drives up and these girls get out and get right next to my truck. They have no wheres to run if the mother gator comes out after them. I just can not believe it. I took the photo on top with the two girls are to show you how they look. I could not turn too good and get a good shot sho I shot it off the mirror of my truck. I try to tell them the dangers but they just look t me as if I some dumb hick.
sharky_ been posting some stuff of dangers on his volcanos shots which is wonderful. Please check out his gallery too so you too will be a better and safer person. I been shooting shots of what people do this is danger but they act like it nothing. So I going to post them now this week. Some is just plain dumb

Whoo! Looks like you took their pic from inside your truck. Prudent. My wife was the same way about bears in Yellowstone, back before they fenced off garbage dumps. "Cute," she said.

yes I in my truck but I know those gators can go around 40 mph in one second it looks like. And they have big teeth too; plus it looks like i just 10 feet from her

I have a great respect for wild creatures - domestic ones as well. Anything and everything bites under the right circumstances - even our own children. Great shots, Jock, and I wish more people listened to sage advice.

They should've taken your advice. I've seen the same thing out west except the animal was a moose with a calf. Trust me, you can't run fast enough.

Excellent captures, considering the conditions, Jock! Young people have always felt immortal and that nothing can hurt them. They watch too many Superman/superhero movies, perhaps. I read something a long time ago that said when running from an alligator, never run in a straight line but weave from side to side, because the reptile can't change direction as effectively as a human. Of course, I've never been in that situation so I can't swear to it.

I know exactly what you mean. You try to tell someone of the danger exist before them and they get more curious, closer they go. I've seen those gators on TV lunging towards their prey......super fast. Hope nothing happens to them. Excellent job and great idea shooting thru the mirror. Aloha
