Description

Hello ! Finally the day came that you will see, what this is. LOL ! I find this so amazing. And this bug was BIG. The body was 30-35mm long. I had to make it run around the old plast bowl for 20 minutes, before it was tired enaugh to stay still for me to take this shot. And it only stayed for a few secs. I havent a clou about the art of bug, but it makes me think about the beautiful fibulas they created in the Iron age. Exactly the same edges. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments to yesterdays post. I also thank thos who added the image to their favorite list. I am very grateful. :))) Have a wonderful day. Yesterday we had thunder storm and I couldnt have my PC on. The relay went out 3 times, so it was good, that I had pulled the plug out. the bad weather went on for more than 3 hours. Now it seems to be a day like yesterday heavy and humid. Dont hope we get thunder storm again.

Really amazing. Mankind has invented nothing really new. Belongs to Carabidae (sorry, I do not know the Enlish name, neither does my dictionary at hand); if I translate it from our language, it sounds "bronze Carabus". Great shot! If you find a sill bigger, black one, do not think of catching it by hand or put your face close to it; it shoots in the eye an irritating and stinky fluid (I know this from personal experience, taken some 50 years ago). Other species just excrete a stinky fluid, e.g., if one removes them from the flat or house, where they fequenly appear after dark. Apart from this, they are harmless and one really should not kill them.

I studied insects to draw them, I didn't draw them well, mind you, but I learned a lot. They are some of the most complex, strange and 'ornamented' creatures on earth. So leave it to you to give us yet another close-up of the wonderful world of insects and their wings and shells and strange spindly legs. The back of this bug could pass for an ancient urn (something right up your alley) or material for a great set of luggage! And you captured it in a light that makes it look like brass or some deep-cured leather. A wonderful shot. You're always giving us glimpses into the things we see everyday but never look at...many thanks, Helle.

Well done you wore the bug out long enough to get the shot which is amazing - the armour these little creatures have is so decorative - thanks for sharing this wonderful capture

It has an outstanding surface to it with precise ridge patterns. I really love this bug and would like one made of metal and made into a pin. I once bought a giant roach that had been made into a gorgeous metal broach...yup, a real roach! I admire your sticking with this bug long enough to get this great shot. I would have given up in short order and gone to find something lazier to shoot. :-)
