Description
One of the best things about the Zinnias is that they attract butterflies and hummingbirds... I have not seen these butterflies before, Now they're out there everyday. Not many, one or two; I don't know what kind they are, and I don't have time to research. I've seen a couple other types too, but they don't sit still for long... Just as I have them in focus, they are gone. I'll keep trying :)
My Previous upload, "Sherbert", or is it sherbet? On-line dictionary has both... I need to dig out the hard copy :) LOL Anyway, thanks for your comments and visits. Oh, and I am gonna be busy for the next couple of weeks, so if ya don't see me in your galleries, I may just sneak a peak and run, or I can't get on... (I'm getting ready for a vacation soon! Woohooo! A different destination than originally planned... but I'll tell you more about that later.)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
~Melinda~

Beautiful image! Happy holidays!! :)
Lovely macro
wonderful !
Superb macro.
Excellent POV!! Great macro!!!
Vanessa cardui (Painted Lady) if I am not mistaken and the most widespread butterfly on earth. The white tips on the antennae make it a striking display. Just some trivia: The butterfly is called "Sondagsrokkie" in Afrikaans, meaning Sunday dress.
Excellent shot!
I love the Afrikaans name! we have quite a few of these in my garden. beautiful shot!
wonderful !
Wonderful Work!!!!
hmm i am going to have to plant zinnas then !!! beautifully captured !!!!!!
Terrific POV, clarity, beautiful colors and composition in this shot, Melinda! A myriad of lovely textures cover the wings of this lovely butterfly, sipping up nectar from the zinnias through its proboscis. My Webster's New World Dictionary spells it "sherbet," as do the containers in all the ice cream sections of supermarkets I go to.
très jolie photo !!
Very nice capture of what appears to me as a Painted Lady. The details, colors, and DOF are great. Thanks for sharing and have fun. Lee
Beautiful butterfly ... Love that Piet was able to give us some interesting info on it :)
Excellent capture.... the detail is just perfect!
we have a very similar breed here but have not seen one this year.any bug chasing requires patience.luckily if you stay still they may come back to the same flower. pristine macro quality
