Description
This part of Ireland (Achill Island) was considered to be the spiritual home of Louis MacNeice 1907 -1963 my favourite Poet. His father was born in this part of Ireland, and much of his career success was due to a generous lady who admired his work who came from the region. In my forthcoming trip to Ireland it is a place I plan to visit again..
Perhaps for me his greatest poem "Prayer before Birth",
written long before the troubles of today I find so strangely prophetic it beggars belief..

A wonderful scene with pretty depth and a nice foreground, very well done!!
Beautifully here!
Ah. What a beautiful capture, this must've been my home in a past life. When I take a nap, I dream here. What amazing and lovely places and people this country gives the world. Such great natural, Earthly beauty in this shot, yet is seems like an outpost at the edges of the Universe. 10,000 volts of inspiration. Here, everyone is a poet.
Fantastic landscape, the lihgt and colours is perfect.. I love the clouds of the british islands, and always add details and volumen in the pics. I go to Cardiff next week and sure I will make many pics also. Beautiful work my friend
fantastic capture my friend, excellent image
I WOULD LOVE TO JUST SIT ON ONE OF THOSE ROCKS AND LOOK AT THIS LANDSCAPE ALL DAY. WONDERFUL SHOT
That poem is very exciting. I can feel the spirit begging for a clean and just place, for all the things that nurture and if they can not be provided, what is the point in struggling against all the ills... why be at all? Such a great poem and a poet I was not familiar with. My favorite poets have been Rod McKuen and EE Cummings... two styles very dissimilar but both strong. As for this lovely vale with the lake nestled between the rolling greens, it is also quite poetic and your capture is rich in mood and beauty. I'd like to go here as well.
Excellent colors Dan, and the narrative tempted me to read the poem again. Why do I think you also quoted from this poem a long time ago? Be as it may, striking poem...
Very beautiful scene...Splendid capture!!!
Beautiful Landscape Danny, great poem!
Love shots like this of Ireland, great job Danny and thanks for sharing as I would like to visit there some day.
marvelous daniel.
This far enough away to have no iron but uninfomred about stone. Cultivation demands kelp from the sea. That's all I know about it except stories about fairies and journeys.
Another wonderful landscape image Danny! Excellent work! :)
I discovered MacNiece whilst in the 6th form, and he is one of my favourite poets as well. A very beautiful place in this excellent pic.
Such a wonderful place to be!!! I think that I would like to visit. I lived in the scottish highlands for a number of years and we had similar scenery on our doorstep... superb shot.. >..going to book a flight now lol..
