Description
This wave is about 10-ft. high and a few surfers were using it. The bigger waves were further offshore, about 20-ft. high (not visible in this photo). Most surfers were out there. I swam through these waves, it was a lot of fun. But it was difficult getting out with the undertow. These kind of waves are nothing unusual along Oahu's Northshore during December. This picture was taken at Waimea Bay, Oahu in December 1983 and later scanned.

I think you were pretty brave taking your camera onto the beach in the first place sig, nothing like sand to balls up the works, especially if you change lenses., That salty sea spray is another danger, I usually stay on the sidewalk and don't go down on the beach, on the pier is a good enough spot for me. Excellent capture, but you still wouldn't get me into the water with waves like that. What happens if you are swimming through a wave and a surfer is riding that same wave, I guess it's just pot luck wether he hits you or not. Superb work Sig. Bravo!!!!!
