Description
This is the Megellan Eagle Owl Bubo magellanicus sometimes confused with the Horned Eagle owls but DNA testing shows it to be a seperate species. A little smaller than the European Eagle owl which are among my favourite owls.. The side profile shows the huge beak, and it is for its size a very powerful bird. One was found with a Fox in its grip, before they were able to release the poor hapless creature.
I have a few more to follow including some in flight shots of this beauty for another time..
Thanks for taking time to view and for any comments you care to make

Well you knocked me over with a feather...several feathers that is! Such a gorgeous body type - heavy muscles and those feet are "the bee's knees" as my father would say. That beak is amazing. Great information and I do hope to see more in your gallery of this stunning creature.
He perches in a very dignified way.
Such a handsome beauty! Great coloring of his feathers and a gorgeus shot!
Looks a rather squat but muscular type Danny, I wouldn't want those talons and beak to close to myself thats for sure. Excellent profile shot, one beautiful bird. Bravo!!!!!
