Description
We met with this Cuban in the old Habana. Under his hat, he has everything to attract tourists: a jacket, a flower at the buttonhole, a tie with its scarf-pin, and, the most important: a huge cigar… which he doesn’t smoke! But the images that the tourists are making from him give him a substantial income. Comments, as always, appreciated.
Voici un Cubain que nous avons rencontré dans le vieux Havane. Sous son chapeau, il y a tout le nécessaire pour attirer les touristes : veston, fleur à la boutonnière, cravate avec son épingle, et surtout un énorme cigare… qu’il ne fume pas! Les images que les touristes font de ce Monsieur lui amènent des ressources non négligeables. Vos commentaires seront, comme toujours, les bienvenus.

Techdata: Nikon D50 with Nikkor 3.5-4.5/18-70 Pro ED at 34mm, 1/400s at f/10, ISO 200, no flash. I made two portraits of this man with slighly different adjustments. On this one the eyes were too dark, so the eyes of the other portrait were used and pasted here. But it was also necessary to use two Adjustment Layers: one of Curves actiong only on the eyes and the other, Exposure, on the sole BG image. Note: the Exposure adjustment appears only in Photoshop CS2. As a Layer, it exists only in the CS3 version.

Il est "tapé" avec ce cigare dont on se demande si ce n'est pas une saucisse. Le bon cigare cubain est bien ainsi et la disproportion de dimensions accentuée par le phénomène d'avant plan donne un aspect super comique à cette photo. Bravo, c'est le type de capture que j'aurais aimé faire. Si je comprends bien ce monsieur reçois un "matabiche" par photo ? L'ombre portée du chapeau difficilement évitable me gêne un peu... c'est pour dire quelque chose.....

Fantastique personnage! J'adore, et tu l'as superbement photographié. J'ai le souvenir de certaines soirées dans les boites de jazz de Harlem où je n'avais pas assez de mes deux yeux pour admirer certains Blacks avec leurs grosses chevalières et le fameux cigare aussi et qui demandaient au public de laisser l'équivalent de quelques dollars pour pouvoir faire des colis de nourriture pour leurs frères noirs du quartier. Bravo M-Thérèse pour cette photo et ravivé ma mémoire en même temps!
