Description
This marvelous specimen has a beautiful 'head', about 13 inches across, but I won't name it too soon as it may be fun to play a guessing game today!
The only post work was cropping and resizing.
Thanks for your visit.
Those who guessed Allium family are correct! It is actually a species called Allium Christophersonii, and the form really is delightful, isn't it? It's almost as if the closer you get, the more fantastic it becomes! (Thank you for 'playing').

I knew what it was, Chris but I would not have said so soon! Wonderful capture. I posted a different variety of the same flower today! Happy Hugs. Di. xx
Beautiful capture!
A lovely capture of this impressive head of flower.
looks like some one guesses already, I would have thought a cactus of some sort.
I know this to be in the allium family. They are very distinctive in form. I would also say it is the large decorative variety and as I recall, it also comes in pink, yellow and white. :-) great shot!
Beautiful capture of this globe shape flower.
A beautiful shot!
Beautiful flowers!
...or who am I, and what am I doing here? Love this shot of these Allium giganteum, with their colorful six star petals and fantastic pistils and stamens.
I too think it's in the allium family Excellent capture sweetie Hugs Susan~
