I do enjoy this image alot-the only thing for me is the double row of small spheres-somehow they do not fit-but that's just my opinion-there is alot of fine here.

Love the image. Great texturing. Could be a small object or something immense. I can imagine a small spacecraft floating by scanning the exterior. Nicely done.
I tell ya, things like this inspire all sorts of ideas. I'm thinking a similar idea to x2ego. This thing is in orbit of a giant planet, No NO strike that, This thing is in a massive asteroid field, a space craft is flying into the scene, Huge plasma bolts surge up the corners, the pink parts at the top are plasma bolts and they begin to really crackle and waver arcing to the spheres as power builds up, then the barrel section begins to rotate slowly, once the barrel has rotated to the top, a huge thunder bolt flashes out, blasting the space craft into bits, then the barrel slowly rotates back to its original location, the plasma bolts arcing to the spheres slowly fade back to their original state, then of course our sci-fi vid would fade and cut to next scene. I'm thinking once there was a giant alien planet, it was destroyed, this planetary defense structure survived, now it is in the middle of the asteroid field created out of the destroyed planet, destroying anything that comes close, It's been standing silent vidgual for millions of years.
I like your work with textures and shapes - a relic indeed. Spiffy!
