Description
You know, posting my vacation photographs on Renderosity is taking a LOT longer than my vacation lasted! LOL!
We got up Saturday morning and drove out to Lake Billy Chinook. It's the weirdest thing - here you are, driving across this perfectly flat terrain, and all of a sudden there's a huge gorge. There's no way to know there's a lake there until you get right on top of it. Flying out, I could see Lake Billy Chinook from the air, and it was totally amazing, having just been there the day before.
This picture was taken from down in the gorge a ways.
So for those of you (like Doug) who like high desert, here's more of it! It was WAY too hot that day. I think it got up to 97F. (But it's a DRY heat!! Yeah - and so is a pizza oven! Yikes!)
Oh yeah - this is a composite of three images. I don't have a fancy program for stitching them together, so I just did my best with the clone stamp and levels and stuff in Photoshop.

A wonderful capture! The vastness of the land is incredible and invigorating! Beautiful colours and sky! This must have been a scenic site that was absolutely unforgettable!
Hi Tara May looks like a nice place for a swim wonderful capture brings many smiles sweet sunshine to you warm hug, Linda Kaye
Lovely panorama of that desert oasis, Lake Billy Chinook. What a weird name. There's an Army helicopter called a Chinook. The POV, DOF, colors and textures, along with your basic stitching efforts, came out absolutely spiffy, Tara.
A beautiful result from your stitching. How amazing that it just appeared out of the blue.
Lovely area!
Stunning view
Excellent job of stitching these, Tara; I would never have known. Excellent shot(s), too; this is one of my favorite places in that part of the world.
What a beautiful picture of the lake. I've lived in Oregon all my life, have traveled the entire state, and yet I have never seen this lake. I see that I need to plan a trip to see it. By the way, I didn't get a message telling me you had posted this picture. When the one you posted today (Thur) said still at Lake Billy Chinook I knew I had missed something. Heavens, I don't want to miss any of your postings, ever!
