Description
Nikon 7900 pocket image - hand held image.
This is a new species for me. I have no idea how it got such a name, lol.
At first I thought it was one of the orchard spiders because it's body shape and size (1/4') and it's webbing are very similar to those of the Orchard spider family. Turns out I was wrong - not an unusual event by the way, lol.
By the way, the webbing you see in this image was not arranged this way by the spider. I tried to get a shot for some time but the spider was to elusive and it's web was too far into the shrubbery to get a different angle, so I used a thorny twig to wrap up it's web and thus get it onto the twig where I could then get a better angle with better light. I don't usually mess up the spider webs I find but I really was curious to get a better look at this spider. It will spin a new web within an hour.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

Its legs are slick and polished like wire. The brown on white is very interesting. Fabulous macro.

It does look similar to the orchard spider. Great shot.
Your Macro work is always superb, but the attention to detail, and the interesting natural behaviours of each species also sets them apart from the mundane.. Bravo again
