Description
I don't know the proper name for this plant. Maybe someone can tell me, but when I bought them the guy at the nursery said NOT to put them in full sun as they don't like that. Yeah, right! These are in full, hot sun all day and just look at the size of them! He should have said don't put them in full sun cuz they'll take over!!! I don't even water them! My husband bought me a machete just to trim them back. I just cut tons off...the leaves were clear out into the pool, and I can see I need to cut some more already. The poor little pelican ornament looks so tiny there! LOL!!! I have another huge one to the side of the yard, but it's growing out rather than up, but just as heartily.

Maddy, sweetie, methinks you've got a monster in your yard, LOL! That's amazing! You might want to move this to the photo gallery, though, before the moderators start to fuss about this being a photo, and put into the fractal gallery...hugs

HOW FUNNY! I would take this picture back and show that nursery worker. It looks like an Elephant plant but I may be wrong.
It's a real beauty even if it is big and it gives lovely privacy for your pool. I'd keep it even if it is a lot of work. It obviously doesn't mind being attacked with a machette so you can use it to take out your frustrations.
We have elephant plants in our back, as well; they literally take over, but are beautiful, nonetheless. Almost sounds like a possible scene from Little Shop of Horrors (the backyard version, LOL).
Its a beautiful split leaf philadendron specimen! I have them in my yard too but they aren't this large... yet. They do get quite large and in the tropics they will become a huge vine and grow up trees. Thanks for sharing your photos.
