Description
During our Senegal travel (see my five previous images), we stopped often for the midday lunch, in hash-houses for the local people. We received usually a single dish: rice with a sauce and either fish or chicken. In these restaurants and in the families, people are generally eating while seating on the ground, barefoot on a matting, with their hands. But to White guests or travellers, one offers often a spoon. At the end of the lunch, Aissatou (who we photographed with her agreement) prepared us the tea. After that, we simply stretched on the ground, our luggage under the head, and we enjoyed a restoring siesta.
Lors de notre séjour au Sénégal (voir mes cinq vues précédentes), nous nous sommes souvent arrêtés pour le repas de midi, dans des "gargottes" fréquentées par la population locale. On nous servait généralement un plat unique: du riz en sauce avec du poisson ou du poulet. Dans ces restaurants, ou dans les familles, on mange habituellement assis par terre, déchaussé, sur une natte, avec ses mains. À l’invité (Blanc) ou au voyageur, on offre souvent une grande cuiller. À la fin du repas, Aïssatou (que j’ai photographiée avec son accord) nous a préparé le thé. Ensuite, nous nous sommes tout simplement allongés sur le sol, notre sac à dos sur la tête, et nous avons savouré une sieste réparatrice.

Dommage qu'on ne la voit pas de face, mais déjà comme ça on devine qu'elle est très belle cette jeune femme. Je pensais que le service du thé était exclusivement réservé aux hommes, je vois que je me suis trompées. Ca donne envie car leur thé est délicieux et c'est tellement rafraichissant quand il fait chaud ! Bisous

Le rite du thé dans "cette Afrique" est d'une importance capitale et cela ressort bien dans ta photo. En Afrique noir, même musulmane, ce cérémonial n'est pas une exclusivité masculine. L'attitude de cette femme est prise au bon moment, celui où elle prête toute son attention à l'opération. Bien vu.... j'en redemande ! Bon WE (assez maussade en Belgique).

A perfect composition which emphazises the serious of Aïssatou in her holiday task, because the other days she is at school, isn't it? Normally I am not a flash aficionado, but here it is a good contribution to animate the image, creating pleasant blue highlights on Aïssatou's beautiful dark (and very reflective) skin. An other benefit of flash, it freezes the tea which is falling in the glasses. Beautiful! Do continue the good work:-)))
J'admire ton audace, il faut une sacrée complicité avec le personnage pour en arriver à une telle photo. On voit couler ce délicieux thé. Tout un symbole en Afrique : l'accueil, l'hospitalité..... Bravo !

Moi aussi je ne suis pas très partisant de l'utilisation du flash....mais ici il s'est avéré très utile pour figer les gouttes de thé qui coulent dans le verre, et la peau mate de la jeune femme absorbe très bien la lumière du flash ! photo à part ça très belle par l'attitude de la jeune femme ! bravo

Great shot! LIke Elcet, I'm not allways a big fan of the harsh light of the flash but sometimes you nede the light. The great thing about this is the Tea frozen in time as it inters the glass :)
