Description
I bought an iphone and it came with a picture of Earth as the wallpaper. Now Earth is cool and all but I wanted something a little more me so I made this.
The planet uses a mix of venus mapping coupled with Earth clouds and variation of half gradient spherical glow for the atmospheric halo (a trick I cooked up one time for a forum discussion).
No planet goes well alone so I tossed in my latest version of my Enterprise model and fussed with some weird lighting and voila, I got my new wallpaper.
I'm happy with it. Took me two days of render/view at work and then tweakage but now I'm cool with it.

Very cool work Kix, i have never been able to get that realistic glow effect down without a ton of post work like you have here on the planet halo using Carrara . I wonder if that thread is still available ?

Ahhhh I'm in love I've never seen a finner tail end sigh! Ok maybe I need to get out more but "Damit Jim," That's a fine ship!!! The point of view, the detail and setting perfectly flawless sigh!!!
