Description
When I posted this image on Google Earth I had titled it 'Taal Volcano' (Location: 14d 00m 32.45s N, 121d 05m 39.13s E). I was corrected by someone obviously much more familiar with the local geography than I was. I was informed the mountain in the image was 'Binintiang Malaki'.
When we went there in September 1967 we hired an outrigger and went to the island, partially visible in the image. We climbed about halfway up its slope (the island is 400m high) and I never had a view into the actual crater. The volcano had erupted the previous year and killed more than 200 people. It also erupted the following year again. I remember feeling uncomfortable while climbing, thinking about being on an active volcano.
What we referred to as 'Taal Volcano' is an inaccurate description.
The lake visible in this image is a caldera formed by an earlier, very powerful eruption. Within this lake is 'Volcano Island', visible in this image. Volcano Island contains a lake about 2km across, called 'Crater Lake'. Within Crater Lake is another small island, called 'Vulcan Point'(Wikipedia).
Trivia: Vulcan Point is the world's largest island within a lake on an island within a lake on an island.
I have no idea how all this ties together and I personally didn't see any eruptions.
Lake Taal (and the volcano) are located about 50km south of Manila, Luzon Island, Philippines.
This picture was taken in September 1967 and later scanned.

hey Sig I appreciate it very much.I was nervous even to take an outrigger canoe. were you at San Nicolas at this vantage point? I heard that the view is much better from Tagayty but I never was able to go there.at the time in question there was rebel activity there.even in the city of Lipa automatic gunfire could be heard at night time when the soldiers would clash with rebels.less than a mile rebels ambushed and killed 2-3 police in their jeepney from where I always stayed I never heard anyone refer to it other than Taal Volcano.there are mountains close to Lipa but the locals does not know the name thanks again for the dedication and an excellent vista
