Description
Fooling around with displacement and power fractals because I had a hunch I could simulate vegetation that way. It worked out pretty well on the planet object, don't you think?
Had a problem with the light on that planet object though:It turned out pretty dark and I had to fiddle with the gamma to lighten it.
Any comments are welcome, especially if they can help to improve.
Thanks for dropping in.

Intersting effect. Nice render.
I love it all the way. And thank you. 5+.
Very creative Andy!
Pretty, pretty, pretty GOOD !!!!
Very interesting, to say the least! I used pretty much the same technique on sphere objects.
On my computer the central tree seems whacked...I mean...its not right...the contrast compared to the terrain and other trees is way off and the shape seems unnatural...the terrain, water, atmo and other trees are exceptional. Not sure if you like to enhance the image in PSP or Photoshop but...IMHO it could use a bit of contrast and sharpening....I'm not an expert and I'm just spilling my guts....sometimes when someone tells me their true feelings on my work it helps me to work harder and make better images....I hope you don't mind and hope you will be truthful on my images....thanks!
nice experiment
Fantastic work.
