Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
I am often at a loss for why some bugs have the names they have. This obviously black and orange bug is a case in point. It is a Blue-banded Lema Leaf Beetle - (Lema solani), and with no blue in sight, lol.
This is the 3rd in a series of images I am posting this week that show very tiny insects - 1/8 inch long (3-4mm).
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

Maybe you missed an S and he used to play in a blues band LOL. Great shot, whatever his color.
Or maybe blue is his favorite color? The texture of the shell is wonderful. Such vivid detail on this teeny bug.
great macro
Maybe a colour-blind scientist discovered him. Another superbly detailed portrait.
Science has always baffled me Lee, especially the names of things, we call a plant or an insect by a common name but it has to be different in latin, this may well be a translation problem and the bug can't tell us the reason Lol. I have to agree with Cosine, what ever the colour the shot is fantastic. He looks like he's had a wash and brush up for his portrait, euither that or a respray, he has a shiny coat. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
Great closeup! ;)
Great capture!
It's all shiny and new! Fantastic capture. Bunny
