Description
Here's another view of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri from the 10th floor of the old Adam's Mark Hotel (recently purchased by the Hyatt). Due to the window placement, one gets a nice half view of the Arch, park and Mississippi River. You get a better notion of the arch's 600 foot height from this angle.
The river is a pleasing shade of blue due to the recent heavy rains and sky reflection. It is usually brown, hence it's title of "The Big Muddy." ("Too thin to plow and too thick to drink.") Across the river is the great and politically corrupt State of Illinois where I was born.

would have made a really cool abstract if you had cropped off the land and simply had the arch with that nice pink to blue fade of the sky i nthe background!
Interestingly enough, Vik, I did take one like that of the whole top of the arch. The half idea is great!

The inclusion of the people at the base of this gigantic arch gives a great sense of the scale of the thing. Those tiny black dots at the top are the viewing windows I take it? I'm not sure if I would be too happy traveling up inside that, it must feel strange the lift must rise at a tangent. Do you actually get out at the top? I imagine it is quite a large area. Do they close it in high winds? I wonder if you took any shots of the inside? I'm a pain I know I am always asking questions. Asolutely superb capture and an interesting narrative. Bravo!!!!!
This surely does put the height and sheer size of the arch into perspective, also the size of old Muddy. Lol @ too thick to drink.
