Description

When I dug up some of my grandmother's bearded irises from the old farmhouse yard years ago, they were the familiar deep purple. But over the years, they have all reverted back to white. Their color may have faded, but I don't think their beauty has. Thanks to you all for your kind views and comments. For all those who commented on yesterday's coral honeysuckle and wondered about their fragrance... there are nearly 200 different species of honeysuckle, and no.... this coral honeysuckle has no fragrance at all, at least mine doesn't. They are in full bloom now, and will bloom all summer, but not as profusely as their spring bloom.

You are right. Maybe time can take its colors, but certainly not its beauty. Brilliant Macro.

Excellent macro and very interesting narrative, we have some (I think)purple ones down near the pond, they haven't started to bloom yet but as soon as they do, I'll be there with the camera. I have never heard that they change colour before, ours used to be in the front garden and I moved them when I paved it all in. They have been out the back for about ten years, each year we hack some off and give it away and every year it expands even more. A very beautiful detail you have highlighted here. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
