BACKGROUND
I am a naturally curious person. Sometimes things come up in a conversation I'm having with someone and I think, "Gosh! I'd like to know what more people think about this topic!" Over the years I've chosen to take surveys in order to gather more information.
My real-life-walking-around friends are quite used to this sort of behavior from me, and they enjoy it when I come up with new things for them to think about.
This survey came about because of a conversation I was having with my friend Erik about outer space. Our take on the whole thing was SO different, I decided to ask other people what they thought.
I've received some very interesting responses from people, and thought it would be fun to open the survey to my friends and neighbors here on Renderosity.

THE SURVEY QUESTIONS
This is a two-part survey.
1. If you had the chance to put on a space suit and work on the outside of the space station, would you do it?
2. If aliens landed their spacecraft in front of you and said "get in, we're going for a ride," and you didn't have time to tell anyone where you were going, would you go?
Please feel free to just answer "Yes" or "No," but you may also elaborate if you wish. (Elaboration is MOST welcome!) :)
Oh - and it would be helpful if you would specify your gender! Most of you I know, but with some folk's avatars, it's tough to tell. Thanks!

You may be interested to know what I've discovered so far.
I surveyed 22 people today.
59% would work in space.
50% would get in the spacecraft and go with the aliens.
Of the people I surveyed, 13 were men.
85% of the men would work in space.
69% of the men would go with the aliens.
Of the people I surveyed, 9 were women.
22% of the women would work in space.
22% of the women would go with the aliens.

Gosh, I think it would take more then 500 words for me to answer this one, since I would have jumped at the chance at both when I was younger, but now I'm not so sure! Being a huge Trekkie fan, I love the idea of both, but once you hit a certain age, you have to think about how it would affect the world at large...... oh... what the heck..... yes and yes!!!!! LOL ;P
Am I too late? Anyway good game and can be learn how modern ppl think of what is might possible for "common" ppl. I rank astronauts into the different category. My answer is Yes...yes. I would not miss an opportunity to adventure into realy something out of this world. I am a lady..lol. just joke. More survey please this is fun.
Oh this is a good one. I would say yes, yes, yes, to both questions. I would love to go into space. maybe that is why I like to star gaze so much :)

Ooo Nice idea! Hmmm Ok, If I were already in Space then yes, I would go out for repairs. and take my camera for lots of pics! Alien contact? I don't think I would go with them but I would ask if I can take some pics lol! Thanks for such an interesting survey! Ra3vyn (Jo, Female) :)
OK, I'm a bit late finding this post, Tara, but my answer is an unqualified "YES" to each question. It would be the ultimate "rush" to step out into space and see with my own eyes the beauty and vastness of the universe. And as far as going off wih the aliens -- I'd love to see if there exists out there a civilization devoid of the propensity for violence that humans have... quietly gets off his soapbox Oh, yeah ... male. :o)
Ooh, I love surveys and yeah, I'd definitely put on a vac-suit and do SOMETHING outside of a space station: washing the windows might be a bit hard though, and according to NASA standards, that's probably all I'm qualified to do. But yeah, the answer is yes; I'd also love to feel microgravity as well. Just as long as I don't toss my cookies in my space suit; that's a sure way to suffocate, but I haven't tossed a cookie in decades, so I don't think I have to worry about space sickness. As for taking a ride with aliens. Well I'd do that too. The idea of simply being in contact with an otherworldly beings is as attractive to me as the idea of being on a bonafide spaceship of sorts. So in short, YES and YES, though from the way things are going, I'll have to say that I'd do whatever I can to bring ONE particular fellow traveler along with me, especially since weightlessness ON a space station (and aliens' "known" interests in human reproductive habits would make both space AND the possibilities with a particular companion far too irresitable to ignore. Ah...but you didn't ask for THAT much information!)

#1. YES! I had the honor, to have been a crewman, in the helicopter squadron that recovered astronauts, returning from space. You bet that I would be out there. #2. Yes again. If a spacecraft landed in front of me and asked me to go for a ride around the universe, yes I would go. Just think about saying no. They are superior beings and they could take me against my will.
