Description
On Jan. 30th, I published an old Renault Sinpar 4WD truck that had been specially modified to carry tourists. This is a similar oldie but goodie 4WD truck which was less modified and is transporting workers. As you see in this typical third world scene, it is heavily overcrowded, and I let you imagine the drama if this upsets, which I saw with another truck some miles afterwards: certainly many pilgrims returning from the Senegalese Moslem place of Touba died the day they went back home (it was a madness day on the road as I will show you on my post to come). Of course it is here a very short distance trip. For longer travels, people ordinarily do not take such trucks. They take the so-called Rapid Buses (Cars Rapides in the French-Senegalese language), that I showed you earlier. Sorry if this image is not sharp as I would like, because it was taken with a telephoto from a moving car and in spite of the quick shutter time it is slightly blurred. I applied a serious Sharpening Filter in Photoshop CS3 to enhance it. But I am very happy of the result, because the elegant pose of the man on the top gives a pleasant composition. If you like this pict, and if you have not seen the 6 earlier ones of this series, you should particularly appreciate these two ones:
Senegal cars 5 – Cars rapides (Rapid buses)

and Senegal cars 6 – For tourists only

Techdata: Nikon D70 with Nikkor 4-5.6/70-300 ED at 155mm, ISO 200, aperture-priority automatic, 1/350s at f/7.1. Sharpening, contrast enhancement and slight cropping.
Do not miss my Senegal Cars 8, coming soon! Very funny sequence, with animals!

Great job!!!!
Superb shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pobre gente!!!
Cool shot! I have to wonder if they've considered a more extensive rail based transportation system. I think I read somewhere that the Senegalese only have about 550 miles (900 kilometers)of railway. Soooo I wonder, after seeing the pictures of the overworked donkeys and overloaded trucks, if rail wouldn't make more sense. Of course, I'm sure they do what they can with their available money/resources. Thanks for posting this Edouard. Well done.
lot of people on this truck. very good shot I say
great shot!
Mon dieu, je me demande comment le camion fait pour tenir encore debout avec tout ce qu'il transporte !!
When one speaks of freedom, most places in the world would've forbidden such travel. Who is freer? Love the composition in this one!!
Oh yes, but freedom, RBlue, can also be free from care. What is to choose?. Fantastic shot, Edouard and very amazing, that the car can stand it. :)
Awesome Elcet!
Interesting! DO keep up th egood work! DPH
That's some way to travel! A very nicely composed shot, and your postwork is spot on. Great work! :)
I like the way that for you (and us), the image of the bus is staggering! But to them... you are much more interesting... so many eyes!
Very well shot! Great!
Great shot and composition !!
very interesting but the focus suffers which tends to take away from the originality
Room for one more! Funny they have eyes painted on the front of the truck. Interesting set of photos.
C quoi ca...un déménagement ? :)) Good Shot
Belle image de reportage. Le sujet est impressionnant, presque étourdissant. Une des meilleures images de cette série, à mon humble avis.
Great shot and image!!!!
Very beautiful photo.
Une photo chargée de 'culture 'et pleine de tendresse pour tous ceux qui ont peu et trouvent le moyen de sourire généreusement. Un très bel hommage à l'Afrique!
Cool picture. Well done.
~Awsome~ Thanks for sharing... EXCELLENT!! ^5^
nice shot, in many ways a gripping observation..
Great shot erland
superbe capture.
I think a double-decker bus would be useful.
That is a load and a half! Wonderful photo my friend!
Amazing capture and I can see what you mean, it looks so very dangerous, my heart goes out to these people! hugs Jane xx
