Description
This one is shot from the platform at the top of Multnomah Falls, the same place as yesterday's upload, but I've turned around and walked 10 feet across the viewing platform.
I intentionally used a slow shutter speed to show the movement in the train and the traffic on the freeway. Notice that even on a cool spring day both parking lots are almost full; this is a very popular tourist destination, both because it's a beautiful waterfall and because it's very accessible.
I'm about 650 ft (200 m) above the river, with the waterfall just to my left. There really isn't a great view of the waterfall from here; what people come up for is the view I'm showing you. I like the tiny lodge down there, and the tinier people. You can just make out the paved trail leading from the lodge to the lower viewing area and then up to the bridge between the two waterfalls.
We're almost done with this hike. Thanks for coming along and for all the fun comments.

Awesome view and shot, Dennis!
Gosh - I haven't been up there for years! I don't remember a viewing platform, just the bridge. What a great view, though! Thanks for climbing up there to get the shot. :)
Just looking at this picture gives me the creeps...too high for me! You really did an excellent job of capturing the view for us. This is really a super view and a super picture.
A towering spot. It does look like a popular place and the parking lot struck me first in this...full. It does give you a good idea of the layout and relationship of landmarks.
OMG i'm gonna HURL L .......so HIGH! gasp ....what a terrific shot! Love the train & cars in motion though!
I like this viewpoint. It gives the whole story of the place.
A grand view. I get dizzy looking down from high places, but it is okay seeing a photo of such a view.
Fantastic view and Wonderful photo.
great shot!
A beautiful perspective Dennis. I like that slower shutter speed creating movement for the train and cars. Good information, thanks for sharing, Sig...
We came that way last May but only hiked up to the bridge now I see what we missed out on. I have to say most of the people there in May did not speak English. They were from all over the world. It was pretty cool.
So brave to climb so high. I could not Dennis. A superb shot that shows well the lie of the land. I think I would pass out at such a height. Thank you for climbing for us all. Diane.
What a lovely view! And what a precipitous drop - Yikes! Is there one huge waterfall on your left? Or has this whole series shown the steps the water is taking to get to the bottom? Either way, it's a loooooooooong way down :)
great!
Stupendous, Fantastic, what can I say????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh, just looking down makes me scared. It is almost like I am on a bridge. And I don't like going on bridges. One of my two fears in life. Beautiful capture though. Aloha
My goodness, what an awesome POV! I had no idea you would be that high up! Great shot, and nice touch with the shutter speed for the train!
Awesome shot excellent POV!!!
