Description
A local landmark to my hometown, Middleton,Manchester, historically in the county of Lancashire.
Built 1910. a gradeII listed building. I think it is the only one still standing in the area.
Recently been purchased by property developers to be made into 1, 2, and 3 room appartments. I'm eager to know what the changes will bring.
I've been trying to find some history about the mill but have had no luck on any local sites.
Built during the height of the textile industries, Cotton and Silk, Lancashire was an area chosen for the manufacture of cotton materials because of the damp climate.

I agree with Kalina - it looks more like a prison than anything else, and I bet it felt like a prison, working there! This is a wonderful capture of an industrial revolution era building. It has such a heavy feel to it, and I would imagine that once you get away from those windows, the middle of each room is dark and dreary! You've got my mind going ... thanks! :)

perfect exposition on the theme regimentation.
Excellent photograph. We have Arkwright's Mills near us. Build by Sir Richard Arkwright who was the inventor of the water powered cotton spinning machinery.
