Description
The Milky Eagle Owl was first classified by the French naturalist brothers Verreaux in the early 19th century, and an alternative name for this species is Verreaux' Eagle Owl. There is also an eagle named after these gentlemen.
These birds live in wooded areas and are, in their natural habitat, completely nocturnal so the extent to which their natural behaviour has been studied and documented is very limited.
The Milky Eagle Owl gets its name from the large, milky white eyelids, which are a feature unique to this species. When the male is mature as in this image the lids go a pink shade a way they communicate with each other.. The pink is a hello there come on!! Lol
