Description
Crawling Around On My Hands And Knees
Yep that’s where I was today
Crawling around on my hands and knees
Now I know that sounds a little odd
But you have to understand why
I was outside the sun was out
It was warm and I was weeding
And the only way to do that
Is on your hands and knees
So there I was
Pulling weeds this time
In the raspberries
And they are nasty
Just as nasty as the roses
But I’m not gonna show you
My arms and my hands
Not this time
I know you’ll all say
Wear those gloves
Wear long sleeves
Protect your sensitive skin
But I can’t because then
I can’t feel the dirt
Or the earth or grab
Those damn weeds
The gloves get in the way
They slow me down
They just bug the heck
Out of me!!
So there I am
Crawling around
On my hands and knees
Pulling those weeds
And when I’m done
Those raspberries are
Fairly shouting with joy
We’re free we’re free
Then I feed em
With that rich dark
Wonderful compost
And they are ecstatic
And I am muddy
My hands are a mess
My clothes are dirty
But I am happy
And the raspberries are even happier!!!

I actually wrote this a couple of weeks ago, during that wonderful warm spell we had. Once I get home, towards the end of this week, I'll be back in my garden, doing more of the same, weeding and crawling around!!

such a busy life you lead are you never still :o)..excellent writing again marilyn .i do drink tea 2 cups when i open my eyes and then a coffee to liven me :o) mick
We are getting snow here, you must be on the otherside of the planet...spring won't be here for another month or two.
Got me laughing a bit here, Marilyn. You do realize that you can purchase the 'Garden Weasel' from the TV commercials. One flick of the wrist and it automatically pulls out the weed. But, then you can't get into the dirt...on your hands and knees...lol Thanks for brightening my very early, morning cup of coffee with your words.
Some times your natural texture is the best way indeed. especially with fixing minute objects like watches, eye glass frames, etc. very nice insight here what you went through! Good day to you Marilyn :-) Hugsssss
lol, i can relate to this! how true and lovely writing
I don't know how you got this gift Marilyn, but it sure is powerful, and when you read it a couple of times, most of us can relate to it. We can think it, but you can put it down on paper. Then those that can't relate can still read it. Excellent prose again with a relevant picture. Bravo!!!!! I don't weed anymore and I miss getting dirty.lol.
Always gorgeous words and pict Marilyn!
Fantastic...I love the way you capture so much...a lot of what you say is so straightforward and open, but there seem to be whole layers of subtext as well, impressions and observations that work so beautifully between the lines of what you write. Superb work!
Our Marilyn, feeling and smelling the heady essence of flora and soil, once again at one with nature. Terrific gauze-like effect displayed in that wonderful macro, young lady! And, I'm glad you washed your hands before using the camera. You wouldn't want to get dirt and weeds into the intricate mechanisms.
oh I love raspberries. they do not grow here but I love the drinks they make out of them. this is wonderful looking
Those look good enough to eat. I can't wait to see the fresh ones :) Nice work my friend
I'm with you, you can't work a garden properly with gloves on, it's unnatural. Lovely piece of writing, thank you!
It's good to liberate the plants! :) (You can keep the raspberries, though - I don't like 'em.)
Ain't nothin better than a Happy Raspberry!!! Make some jam out of them and then send me a jar!!!
Im with you on the glove things. I hate wearing gloves when work in the garden. Another great poem.
lovely.......
