Description
Ok, so I'm not at all sure I used the right settings on my camera for this, but these two shots were the best that came out. I figured that by the time I figured out what settings to use there wouldn't be any more eclipse to shoot in the first place. This was at the very tail end of it.
Not sure why it doesn't show up in the top one as well, maybe 'cause I'm zoomed out more. *shrug* But the top one shows (well I think it does at least. lol) Saturn to the left and Regulus on top. I couldn't find anything more than that they were both supposed to be visible around the moon tonight, so I could have those backwards, but if I zoom way in on the left hand dot I see what looks like rings. Maybe it's some blur of some sort since I'm not really sure a 10x optical zoom would pick up rings from here, but I'm going with Saturn anyway. :D LOL
Hope you all got a chance to see it. Looked great!
John (who's almost caught up with e-bots and will try to stay more current - no guarantees though. :) )

I did not get the chance to see the eclipse...but I'm glad I at least got to see these photos. Wrong settings or not, I like the dreamy quality you've captured here.
A Nice look at this Phenom!!!
The moon is a pretty bright object, being front lit fully by the sun- so generally you want an ISO around 100 and shutter speed around 125th of a second with an F stop around 11 or so- but obviously different combinations are possible. Most of the sky over us was obscured by clouds, so nothing really all the great to see for us unfortunately. Good shot though, and thanks for sharing!
nice capture John great one! I guess that needed some preparation, tripod and so on...
Fantastic John. Thanks for sharing this amazing scene.
Since the moon is reflecting sunlight, you have to expose for a daylight shot, as Jeff said above. The eclipse was difficult, because if you expose for the dark part, the bright part is blown out, and if you expose for the bright part, you can't even see the dark part. which was what I did. Google "Photograph lunar eclipse" for more details.
These are wonderful..super captures John!!
Oh i forgot about the lunar eclipse superb captures thank you for sharing hugs lou x

Great to see these - the eclipse was around 3am local time in the UK, and with work the next day, I gave it a miss - seen several previously though and it's always impressive! Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic captured John!!! You were just right time, right place!!! Marvelous!!! Hugs Ute
I was lucky enough to have our sky become completely clear for the event. I only went out when the dog needed, but I caught some of the beginning and while it was red. Very cool stuff.
nice captures!!!
oh oh oh....I got to see that last night. Very cool to look at. Awesome shots of it, John! I'll have to show this to my granddaughter tomorrow as she wanted to see, but it happened past her bedtime.
Excellent photo!
Wow, great shot. At least you got Saturn in there. Which ever one it is. I couldn't see it. Yes, the setting is very improtant. I also, need to learn more about my settings. Great capture. Aloha

Now I see why you zoomed in on my 'Lunar Eclipse! I was watching but it misted over at 2 a.m here damn! Was perfect at 1 a.m. for viewing. Really good shot you took anyway! Interesting that Saturn showed up so well in the first shot.
You are lucky John. We had rain an see nothing. Great shot ! ~ Uli
Oh, I think there should be a cooking program removed and replaced with one to teach us how to use a camera John! lol. Especially those terrible in car videos I've been watching on TV! lol Excellent capture Sir. I admire your originality. Once again, please accept my humble apologies for not commenting as much as I have done in times gone by. I really do get most uncomfortable, after sitting in this chair for too long. In the last analysis, I am worried that the DVT might start up once again and that warfarin is dreadful stuff. Steve :o)
Awesome shots!!!!!!!
