Description
Just A Little Sunburned
Ah, today was one
Of those magic
Winter days
When it got warm
It was warm enough
To peel a few layers
Of clothes from this
Pasty white body
So I worked outside
And it was warm
And I peeled off those
Layers
Down to my tank top
Pushed up the legs
On my pants
And felt almost free
These winter months
Need so many clothes
So many layers
Just to keep warm
But not today
Today I felt the sun
On my back on my arms
On my body
And oh it felt so good
To warm up
To feel that sun
On my body
And I only got a teensy weensy little tiny bit sunburned

February in So. CA was always beach weather for me. So, I'm not surprised at the warm sun seeking you out to shed it rays down upon. Glad you enjoyed it. Your poem celebrates the experience wonderfully, and with some humor. It definitely has the markings of a sun worshipper. ;) I hope you aren't as red as that photo.
Egads!!!! looks like an alien zapped you on that photo! like a radiation blast gun incident!! lol cool photo manip though :-) and also glad to hear it was a bit warmer up North! got news for ya though lol... East Bay Area down here is c c c colddd!!! lol yep. and tonight it is currently 45 outside... loved this writing of yours :-) ake care and talk to ya in a bit :-) Huggggs
WOW! It amazes me to hear it was only 45, Mr Mike. It was 49 here in NE. Wonderful words Marilyn.
I have been out in the back this morning checking my stones in the shed, I had to smash the ice in the bird bath, mind you the sun does not shine in the back until mid may, our house is South facing, so we get sun on the front all day. Excellent poem Marilyn, I can't wait for it to get warmer here. Bravo!!!!!
Glad you are enjoying some warmth there, Marilyn. It's 21 degrees here, at the moment, and I think I'll keep my winter-wear on, today...LOL
These snippets of everyday life are amazing and the image that accompanies this is wonderfully done! I just wish it was warm over here; my cold is better, it's finally starting to break up...but I've seen an alarming number of snowflakes...there have been flurries off and on all day so far, and oh, I really DO want to peel a few layers of clothes off and NOT freeze my bumm off! Oh well...at least YOU got to enjoy sun and warmth, and you wrote about it with such elegant simplicity. You know...if you read these all together, they work together in such an interesting way...life vignettes. It's a wonderful series you've started and yeah, I look forward to more! As always!
you could of peeled a few layers off here in uk but i would of given you 20 seconds before you put them back on again ,2 degrees here :o)..i can
nt wait for a bit of warmth .we went to the park this afternoon .isnt it funny how kids dont feel the cold ..excellent marilyn mickhappy to hear you warming up . cool looking and your poem is cool too
It's 46F here right now. I could be happy wearing a tank top, as long as I had on a sweater over it! LOL!
It must have been heavenly to finally get some warm sunshine radiating over your bod, Marilyn. I like your medium to well done photo, also. Incidentally, it's bright, sunny and 71 degrees fahrenheit in my neck of the woods at the moment (1:50PM PST).
Well, as a physician to be, I have to say you look a little too sunburnt in that shot.. You really should use sun block if this is how sensitive your skin is. :) The poem is wonderful, I know this feeling exactly!
Lucky girl! It's freezing over here. Loved the poem, i can warm up on that ;-)
Dog gone it there is always a price for everything lol very nice work my poet friend
i love the line 'and felt almost free'... wonderful vignette, marilyn!
