Description
Dear Poppa,
It has been five years today since your passing, and the years never get any easier for any of us. I wonder if it would have been better if we had known you'd be leaving us so soon. Of course, you did give those doctors a run for their money - two months left to live, my butt.
Daddy, ma and I are all lighting a candle for you today, and probably Bethany and all them, too. If you look down real careful you might be able to see it glowing from inside the kitchen window over here. I don't have your picture with me this year, else it'd be put up there, too. The one thing I didn't pack, go figure. It's still in my old room on the dresser, I bet, gathering dust. When I go over there this weak I'll have to grab it. My room isn't right without your picture. It makes even the darkest days bright when I look at your smiling face, and remember the good and carefree days. Man, it all went by so fast, and the vacations to see you, or for you to see us, always ended just as soon as we saw each other, it seems like.
I remember that one Christmas day, I'd stayed up all night long, and heard you get up. It must've been at least six in the morning. You walked past my room and I pretended to yawn, like I was just getting up. You just shook your head and said, "C'mon now, let's get some breakfast." And you made me scrambled eggs. That was the nicest Christmas I ever had.
I still cry when I think about you, you know. And it's not because I'm mourning you...or because I'm still grief-stricken. I just miss you, Poppa. I miss knowing that no matter what, I can pick up the phone and dial your number, and you'll be there.
Well, I'd better let you go...I wager you're busy these days. Let me know you get this when you have the chance. I'll be keeping my eye out for you.
We love you, Poppa. We miss you more every day.
Kisses,
-Summer

Nice shoot!
A tender and very touching letter to your Poppa. How dearly he must have loved you. It is very special with a father and daughter share so much. For me losing love hurts more than anything in this world ... and giving and receiving love feels better than anything in this world. A lovely tribute, and I hope you blew on that blow ball really hard and all your wishes scattered into the wind, waiting to come true. Hugs - CC
Brought tears to my eyes dear Summer... You are a daughter any father would be soo proud off!!! Take care hon..
NOTE: It was my grandfather, not my father, that passed. Though, it was my father's father. =)
