Description

Climbers are approaching the Aiguille du Midi (3842m, 12602-ft). This picture was taken on 28 December 2007. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my previous uploads. And a special 'Thank You' to those that have added some of my previous uploads to their favorites list. A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT THIS SERIES OF PHOTOS: When I planned this trip I told my cousin that I would like to go and see Mont Blanc and also go to Berchtesgaden. We agreed that both trips were weather related. My cousin runs a couple of vacation apartments and she let me stay with her at no cost in Oberammergau. I enjoyed the traditions during the Christmas season and did things i normally don't do. I went to church. To make up for her generosity. I tried to reciprocate by taking her out whenever possible and also told her that I would pay for any costs incurred for these trips. But the big factor was the weather. She called her sister-in-law who lives in Geneva and was told that there is fog, but offered us the use of her house. So we decided to go and take a chance. It was overcast in Geneva when we arrived, and the following day it was overcast until we got near Chamonix and drove through 950m when the clouds broke away and it was a perfect day. We didn't waste any time going up there. We both agreed that we were incredibly lucky, weatherwise, and really enjoyed our trip up there. I just had my little camera, since we were warned that Heathrow looses about 10,000 pieces of luggage per month and I didn't want to take a chance of having to go through all that. Yes, the climbers photo is cropped, and it could have been sharper, but I am glad that you enjoyed it. I am glad to share these photos with you and it gives me pleasure that they are appreciated. Thank you, Sig...

Now this is top quality photography IMHO, I think it is how you have cropped the shot that gives it the size and drama of the climb. Breathtaking Thanks Sig.

Wish I were there! How lucky you were to be "far from the madding crowd", Sig! This is a very nice capture altogether.

no matter the camera, because the subject is there and an exceptional view that many like myself only dream about seeing first hand

This is so interesting in that the climbers give scale in the foreground, and the massive mountain gives a totally different scale in the background. Well done, Sig.
